We are more defined by our spaces than we realize. Quality public spaces help provide a sense of community and place, something that has been slowly eroded over time. However, architecture is expensive. This does not just mean the construction of buildings either. Architecture education is costly, and not everyone can access it. 

No matter their exact mission, there are many nonprofits involved in the architecture space. But they’re only able to pursue these missions thanks to the funding provided by architecture grants. These grants cover all kinds of programs and initiatives, from preservation, to improving energy efficiency in existing buildings, to addressing housing shortages. 

There are many different entities that award such architectural grants. These include organizations such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the American Institute of Architects and the Graham Foundation. 

When writing draft proposals, it's essential to use relevant data to support said proposal. You need to prove that there is a need that your nonprofit is uniquely suited to meet. For architectural grant proposals, this data could include anything from the environmental impact from current building heating or cooling systems, or the lack of funding for architectural study programs.
