Conferences, seminars and workshops are some of the most effective tools in a nonprofit’s arsenal. They can be used both to spread the word about the importance of the nonprofit’s mission or, if the nonprofit’s mission is educational in nature, be used as a platform for that education. Of course, these events can’t be operated for free.

That’s why conference grants are so important. They provide the funding needed for nonprofits to run all sorts of events and workshops. These grants can cover expenses such as venue rentals, equipment rentals, speaker fees, travel expenses, marketing, and catering. 

There are many organizations that provide these kinds of grants. These could include federal or state agencies, community foundations or private foundations. There are also many corporate sponsorship initiatives that provide grants in this area.

When drafting a conference grant proposal, you need to be comprehensive in listing the potential costs. You also need to be a skilled storyteller, explaining exactly the impact this conference or other kind of event might have. Pictures and testimonials from previous events will go a long way.
