Forests are an essential part of sustaining life on our planet. They are critical for biodiversity, provide habitats for important species and even store carbon. And yet, we are losing our forests at an alarming rate. There are many nonprofits which have made it their mission to combat this deforestation. But they are only able to pursue these missions thanks to the generous funding provided by forest grants.

These grants can be put towards all kinds of initiatives. These could include forest conservation, reforestation, fire prevention and forestry research. There are an equally diverse array of organizations that might write these kinds of grants - from private to community foundations, to federal agencies and international organizations.

When drafting a forest issues grant, it's essential to use relevant data to your nonprofit’s mission. This could include deforestation rates, forest fire risks or biodiversity metrics in your chosen region.
