Land use planning is integral to the process of sustainable development, environmental protection and the creation of livable, people-friendly communities. As our urban populations grow, land use planning will become only increasingly important. This is why there are already many nonprofits working in this space. However, these nonprofits are only able to pursue this mission thanks to the funding provided by land use planning grants.

These grants can be used for all sorts of activities relating to land use planning, such as zoning research, zoning implementation and community engagement. There are many organizations involved in the land use planning space, such as the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. 

When drafting a land use planning grant proposal, it's essential to use data to strengthen your case. Relevant dating for land planning could include population growth projections, environmental impact assessments and community feedback on land use projects.
